Who I am

I’m Robin, the Founder of PurlWise Studio.

As a Boston native, my knitting journey began in the second grade. My mother, who was also my Brownie troop leader, taught our entire troop how to knit garter stitch sashes for our uniforms. That simple project sparked a lifelong passion that eventually evolved into my professional calling.

I grew up knitting, but military service, frequent moves, and raising three children led to times when knitting was not my focus. My journey eventually brought me to Florida, where I’ve lived for the past 20 years.

When I picked up my needles again in 2020, I rediscovered my passion and became deeply invested in this craft. I’m an avid knitter with an appreciation for natural fibers, slow fashion, and a commitment to making garments that last. Residing in a warmer climate has required me to work with fibers beyond wool, such as plant-based fibers and blends better suited for the heat.

As a USAF veteran and former Special Agent, my professional background is rooted in discipline, precision, and attention to detail; I bring that same investigative focus to PurlWise Studio. As a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, PurlWise is built on a high standard of professional care.

With certification from The Knitting Guild Association (TKGA) in Technical Editing, completion of the TKGA Master Hand Knitter Program (Level 1), and the Tech Editor Hub Tech Editor Course, I combine deep technical knowledge with a commitment to your vision.

You can trust me to approach your work with care, thoroughness, and attention to detail. I consider technical editing the last line of defense before your pattern is published, and I am here to help ensure it reaches knitters exactly as you intend.
